FANNY LUMSDEN

Announces 6th Annual COUNTRY HALLS TOUR,

NEW SINGLE ‘ROLL ON’ OUT NOW

.

FANNY LUMSDEN

.

“Edwina Margaret ‘Fanny’ Lumsden differentiates herself from Australian country peers with her clear-eyed, unvarnished articulation of life in the bush as it is, rather than as it was… A breath of fresh country air”

– Rolling Stone

.

Based on the quality of this album, Fanny Lumsden’s name will only continue to get bigger across rural and metropolitan Australia alike – and that is very much deserved.

Fanny Lumsden, the country music singer who was thrown into the spotlight with her acclaimed debut album ‘Small Town Big Shot’, is hitting the road as part of her annual Country Halls Tour with national dates to celebrate her new single, ‘Roll On and upcoming full-length album, ‘Real Class Act’.

The debut album saw Fanny’s rare style of writing; a mix of sass, honesty, classic and alt-country, combine to make the ARIA nominated and crowd-funded Small Town Big Shot’ a major national success. Going on to take out the 2017 Golden Guitar Award and the CMC Award for Best New Talent along with the 2017 APRA Professional Development Award (Country), the western NSW raised singer-songwriter is showing no signs of slowing down.

With her band The Thrillseekers in tow, Fanny will be taking on her 6th year of the Country Halls Tour, an annual event that hits halls in regional and remote towns across Australia, bringing the warm glow of live music to these isolated communities. With the tour originating with the ‘post-disaster fundrasier’ in 2012, the Country Halls Tour now raises funds for the halls as they go, often featuring local acts and community workshops.

Seeing those halls in the middle of paddocks, 100kms from any town, filled with life and music really is something special. I feel like we have been let into a joyful secret community club every night to put on a shindig and have a good time,” said Fanny.
.
Honing her gift for vibrant songwriting, Fanny took inspiration from the road when writing the crowd funded sophomore album, Real Class Act’, due out September 22nd. The rollicking and romping new lead single, ‘Roll Ontells the story of life on the road as Fanny amassed over 80,000 kms while touring in her 1978 pop-top Millard Caravan over the last 12 months of shows.
.
“Roll on is unapologetically, a driving song and an account of the past 80,000km that we have clocked (however I wrote it at the 60,000km mark, as is evident in the song.) It was actually the last song I wrote for the record, right before we went into the studio, said Fanny.
.
Fanny made the decision to stick to the independent route and will be releasing the successfully crowd funded, sophomore album on her and her husband Dan Stanley Freeman’s own record label, Red Dirt Road Records in September.
.
Produced by the multi award winner Matt Fell at Love HZ studios in Sydney, who also produced their debut record, ‘Real Class Act’ is comprised Fanny’s own songs and features some of Australia’s finest musicians.

Joining Fanny Lumsden and The Thrillseekers on the road will be Newcastle based Americana chanteuse Melody Moko, along with local artists and workshops for community groups and schools hosted by Fanny.
