Announces NATIONAL TOUR

Having wrapped his Docks single tour just months ago, award-winning WA alt-folk oddity Jacob Diamond today releases Blue Begets Blue, the second single from his forthcoming debut LP (due in 2018), with an intimate national tour to follow, punctuated by an appearance at legendary festival Camp Doogs.

Diamond‘s trademark neo-literary, zealous songwriting is front and centre of Blue Begets Blue, a searing and theatrical journey through denial to, ultimately, the honest proclamation that “I love you, but I can’t love you while I’m in this mess”. Mixed, mastered and produced by Lachlan Carrick (Gotye, Ainslie Wills, Gretta Ray), Blue Begets Blue languishes towards its driving, pained chorus as Diamond exclaims “hate calling you with nothing to say, but I’m gonna call you anyway”.

Setting out on tour, Diamond‘s interstate shows will be largely solo affairs in mostly homey, familiar spaces, such as the heritage listed Caves House in Yallingup & quaint Sydney haunt Sappho’s Books, where his bedroom-folk can be truly allowed to shine. Wrapping the tour at Perth’s 459, he’ll be joined by New Nausea (Albert Pritchard of Shit Narnia & Mung Dahl) and buzzy WA songwriter Carla Geneve.

Having dedicated his life to crafting bold, insightful music that “doesn’t go away”, Diamond‘s roots are planted firmly in Perth’s underground scene. His twin live-to-tape EPs Chum (2015) and Um (2017) and their subsequent tours both received praise from community radio RTR and online media, with the former earning him the WAM gong for Best Folk Act. Drawing inspiration from his zealous religious upbringing, rock operas and the utter confusion that nobody seems to be able to escape, Diamond‘s work is open-hearted, vulnerable and warm.
