ALL YOU COOL YOUTH,
I DON’T RELATE TO YOU
~

Following her “attention grabbing” (4ZZZ) debut release Dare You To Love MeDIY electro audio-visual project LALKA introduces new single Cool Youth and its stylish, subversive video. Available across all streaming services Friday, the release will launch at LALKA’s very special – and free – debut headline show on Thursday 30 November at Brisbane’s iconic hideaway The End.

Prioritising crackle and throb over smoothness or shine, the self-produced Cool Youth bounces between warped samples and breathless syncopated vocals, making use of LALKA’s classical training via a soaring violin solo. Lush visuals directed, edited and produced by LALKA accompany the track, reimagining inner dialogues in elaborate, high-drama settings. Driving and bombastic, the track is a reclamation of power in the face of feeling like the “other”, and has already earned airplay on community radio stations FBi and PBS.

Having caught the attention of local and international media with her debut track/visuals Dare You To Love Me, LALKA is rapidly expanding into the live sphere. Having appeared as a special guest during pop wizard Yeo’s recent Queensland dates, she is also set to support fellow politically-minded local producer May Lyn at Bloodhound Bar on November 2.

To celebrate the release of her second single, LALKA will throw a free launch party in Brisbane’s West End. With support from local RnB-influenced artist Opaeka, projected visuals by LALKA and a very special treat concocted by bar staff just for the occasion, LALKA’s debut headline show is shaping up to be one of the most promising of the year.
