“COLOUR ME IN”

“Colour Me In” is Carvel’s most funk-pop venture to date; infused with muted bass guitarsand vibrant riffs inspired by Jimi Hendrix and Kurt Vile! Before the single had been completed, the band used the track to warm up and let loose before live shows, using the dance inducing tune to energise them.
“The song began as a warm up jam while we were getting ready before a gig and it was so much fun to play that instead of practicing for the gig, we spent the entire day putting the song together and played it that night,” said the band.
Over the funky variations of the pop chorus and fuzzy guitar solo, the lyrics to “Colour Me In” have a deeper, personal meaning. “The song for me, lyrically, came to be about reinvention. I’ve always been a very closed person, someone who bottles my feelings and has difficulty making close connections,” said Tim Tanzer.

The group agree reinventing themselves is a good thing, as it allows them to be who they are and changes the greyscale perspective of the world to be filled with colour.
“Colour Me In is about the feeling you have where you feel like you have left the old youand everything you didn’t like about yourself behind, or anything you felt you had to hide about yourself, and the happiness that comes with finally feeling comfortable with who you are and allowing others into your life, filling in colour where you previously felt darkness,” said Tanzer.
