Following the release of his Underdog LP via Spinning Top/Caroline Australia, GUM the moniker of of Tame Impala/Pond multi-instrumentalist Jay Watson will be performing a special in-store set and signing at Red Eye Records tonight. With sold-out shows in both Perth and Melbourne, GUM’s national headline album tour will continue this week with appearances at Oxford Art Factory on Wednesday April 11th before finishing up at The Brightside, Brisbane on April 12th. Local supports include Ben Witt, Worried About Lizards, Emerson Snowe, Candy, e4444e, San Mei, Stevie and Emma Russack.

The Underdog follows latest single and video release ‘The Blue Marble’. Described as “an endlessly flexible musical polymath,” Watson’s ability to traverse multiple genres is evident in his latest sonic offerings. Mixed and recorded himself, GUM describes his fourth LP as “The soundtrack to a day in the life of GUM. Starting before going out at night, full of spirit and euphoria and feeling like it’s me against the world, before crashing and waking up riddled with anxiety and panic, only to build myself up to do it all again.”
