Angus Dawson returns with his latest single ‘Pieces’. The solemn and intensely intricate track is every ounce evocative writing and production we’ve come to expect from the Perth Producer. ‘Pieces’ opens so iconically Dawson, with encapsulating, cloud-like layers intertwining through playful synth colours. His soothing vocals deliver genuinely personal yet utterly relatable lyrics. Through multifaceted layers of production and his warm, soft and insightful words, ‘Pieces’ creates comprehension of the simplicity revealed in the delicate content of his work.

One of the first tracks written by Dawson, ‘Pieces’ has seen a lot since it was first coined six years ago, somewhat representational of his growth and maturity as an artist. The lyrics and melody have remained mostly unchanged, while the arrangement has seen around four incarnations.

“I got it to a point before taking it to a friend for some collaboration. Together we moved sections around, trimmed some fat, fiddled with some faders and added some new bits and this final form came out and I’m super happy with it.”

2017 was a massive year of firsts for Dawson. He released his debut EP Ellesmere Street, set out on his first national headline tour and dropped a remix EP with Yeo, Feels, Life is Better Blonde, Slow Slate. His first single ‘Battles’ hit the Global Viral Spotify Charts, and hit over over 1.2 million streams across Spotify and Soundcloud, and had recent tour support slots with the likes of including Emma Louise, Vera Blue, Japanese Wallpaper.

Angus Dawson knows how to write from the inside, divulging his personal experience through brooding ambient/electronic production. Recognised for introverted and reflective work and his use of insulated and reticent layers. The wait is over for Dawson fans, as ‘Pieces’ has arrived.
