One of Australia’s more irreverent and distinctive festivals of music and art, Mona Foma, has announced dates for 2019.

Presented—in a complete departure from its former Mona-based iteration—at its new home in Launceston, the festival’s core program will run from 18–20 January 2019. Stand-alone events will also take place in Launceston from 13 January leading up to the main festival weekend.

Key information:

●  Mofo events will run from 13-20 January 2019 throughout Launceston

●  Festival tickets, including the three-day festival pass for 18-20 January, on sale 15 October

●  Mofo program announced 12 October

.

Brian Ritchie, Curator, Mona Foma, said, “We have been enthralled with the hospitality, infrastructure, natural beauty and general quirkiness of Launceston. We’re working with new venues and artists; and we’re really looking forward to sharing this Mona Foma with our festival-goers. We’re excited to say we’ve landed on a festival that will be identifiably Mofo—with a Launceston bent.”

In fact, ahead of the festival’s program announcement next month, Mona Foma is daring southern Tasmanians to buy a discounted early-bird In God We Trust three-day festival ticket, despite not knowing who is playing. The hook? If they hate it, David Walsh (God) will refund them.

On sale from today, the limited offer of the $79 festival pass is available to southern Tasmanians—existing subscribers to Mona Foma’s e-news who live south of Campbell Town—until midnight Sunday 23 September or until sold out. Refunds can be claimed after the festival and are subject to the terms and conditions outlined in the Redemption Clause, which stipulates that any dissatisfied festival-goer must:

●  Wait 40 days and 40 nights after Mona Foma 2019 to consider their decision

●  Hand write a letter expressing why they hated the festival

●  Personally deliver their letter to a complaints box located 150m offshore from Mona on a floating pontoon

.

Celebrated for its eclectic line-up of music and art, Mona Foma is known internationally for its boundary-pushing program. The 2019 festival program will be announced Friday 12 October with tickets on sale Monday 15 October.
