Emerging onto the scene is the new project from singer / songwriter / actress Amali Golden with GOLDS; and her debut single & video ‘Broken Wing’. As the first taste of her debut EP, today’s release gives us a glimpse into GOLDS’ refreshingly honest commentary and sheer talent that Australia will come to know and adore throughout 2019.
Imbued with talent, passion and candid expression, ‘Broken Wing’ is not only an insight into GOLDS’ immeasurable talent; but also as a lesson in self-acceptance and overcoming our inner anxieties. Produced by Beau Golden (Ruel, M-Phazes, Daniel Johns, Vera Blue), GOLDS’ soaring vocal performance takes centre stage; effortlessly gliding over a bed of velvety synths and subtle electronic influences.
A triple threat of talent, the singles’ video engages GOLDS’ unique gift of visually and aurally telling a story. Set on a backdrop of kaleidoscopic, pastel hues; GOLDS appears in bubble enclosure, draped in a strikingly contrasted red; evoking an isolated and misguided sense of self one can feel in themselves, despite presenting a confident and strong demeanour to the world.

Speaking on her own experiences of depression and anxiety, Amali speaks of the tricks our brain plays on us about our own worthiness when we’re scared of letting someone in;

“When you’re depressed, your brain convinces you that you’ve somehow tricked the people closest to you into loving you, and that if they knew the “real” you, the flawed you, maybe they wouldn’t love that person. Broken Wing is about having that conversation and the other person saying “I know and I’m here regardless”. And the revelation that this person might actually see you as you are, and they’re trying their best to love you so maybe you should let them.”

With her forthcoming EP dealing a lot with identity & growth; ‘Broken Wing’ is the perfect first taste of GOLDS as she steps into the spotlight today as a solo artist. Growing up in Tasmania and now based in Sydney; Golden previously worked as a session vocalist and keyboard player with local and touring international artists including E^ST, Vance Joy, Dua Lipa, Charli XCX, Fifth Harmony, Craig David, Missy Higgins & more.
Alongside her musical career, Golden has found success on screen; starring alongside massive Australian talent with roles in ‘The Other Guy’ (alongside ex triple j presenter Matt Okine); ‘BLOOM’ (alongside Jacki Weaver and Bryan Brown), ‘Harrow’ & ‘Thor: Ragnarok’.
GOLDS expressive talent culminates from years of experience alongside the best in the business. Stepping into her solo spotlight, ‘Broken Wing’ enters the world today as the perfect introduction to GOLDS, leaving you audiences hooked on what’s to come from the singer/songwriter in 2019.
