Pieater, home of much loved artists such as Big Scary, #1 Dads, Airling and Christopher Port is today proud to announce the signing of Melbourne-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Slow Dancer. Already gaining international recognition, Slow Dancer will join the likes of Alabama Shakes, Benjamin Booker and Midlake on the ATO Records roster in the United States.
In conjunction with this news, Slow Dancer has released the first taste of an upcoming album in the form of the video for new single ‘Don’t Believe’ which premiered via NPR. The video, created by Bengal Lancer and written & directed by Anna Phillips and Sam Brumby, sees Slow Dancer at the centre of an awkward romance characterised by an often humorous sense of longing.
Following support slots with Cameron Avery earlier in the year, Slow Dancer returns to the stage this March to preview new material as he tours Australia alongside ATO Records label-mate Margaret Glaspy. He will then make his UK and US debut with performances in New York, Los Angeles, SXSW and London.
Simon Okely has been writing, recording, mixing and self-releasing music under the moniker Slow Dancer since 2014. Inspired by the music of his childhood and memories of long country drives through Western Australia listening to his parents’ rhythm and blues records, Slow Dancer crafts earnest music centred around the varying moods and emotions that characterise our relationships.
