CLIPPED MUSIC VIDEO FESTIVAL reveals official program: The Rubens’ first virtual reality music video & exclusive premieres from Saatsuma and Yukon Era (NZ)
CLIPPED Music Video Festival is pleased to announce this year’s full program list including internationally famed experimental artist Jesse Kanda (Bjork, FKA Twigs), exclusive video clip premieres from Saatsuma and Yukon Era (NZ), The Rubens’ first ever Virtual Reality music experience, and so much more.
CLIPPED Music Video Festival is a unique one-day event that facilitates knowledge sharing opportunities from internationally renowned filmmakers, directors and recognised guests, who gift their insight on an ever-evolving and fluid industry, offering guidance to those within the industry and lovers of film alike.

The Rubens VR Music Experience
The Rubens are premiering an immersive VR experience demonstrating the most progressive form of music video with unreleased track ‘Casper’ from their forthcoming album LO LA RU out 29 June. With the help of a speciality headset, participants enter a virtual playground they can see, hear and dance along with The Rubens. Incentivised to interact with various elements of the scene, users experience 3D visuals and animations that are colourful, vivid, fun and entertainingly out of this world. Each user’s experience is different; and once you leave the VR world with The Rubens, an individual recording of their experience can be shared through social media – showing off their very own personalised music clip.

Giordi VR Music Experience
Taken from her debut album ‘Reservoir’, Australian indie pop artist Gordi presents her stunning single ‘Bitter End’ in 360 degree VR. “Bitter End” was recorded in Iceland and produced by Alex Somers (Sigur Ros) and Gordi, accompanied by a stunning 360 video shot in a specially-built diorama by Melbourne’s Michael Beets.
Exclusive CLIPPED Music Video Premieres
CLIPPED is pleased to present a select group of music videos from Australian and New Zealand artists. Being exclusively premiered at CLIPPED Music Video Festival is the latest work from:

Rage’s Wild One Screening
The Wild One is Rage’s weekly pick of the most outstanding independent music video, which is featured during the TV broadcast and online. The Rage team have compiled some of their favourite Wild Ones especially for CLIPPED, showcasing the incredible talent that’s been bubbling in the emerging music and video scenes respectively. Featuring in the exhibit are videos from Kirkis, Amyl and The Sniffers, Mod Con and Rebel Yell.
10 Years of Severed Heads Videos
It’s about time you looked at the first ten years (1983-1992) of Severed Heads videos. Made in the studio (Heuristic Video in Surry Hills) by Stephen Jones (video synth, edit and mixdown) and Tom Ellard (music and Amiga graphics) and then extended on stage with the first live VJ (Stephen Jones) playing video synthesiser overlaid onto the videos thus providing the band’s “light show”.
Industry panels: Introducing Eero Heinonen (Finland)
CLIPPED is welcoming filmmaker and musician Eero Heinonen to the list of esteemed panel speakers. Heinonen is the bass player from Finish band The Rasmus, oozing nostalgia who had the noughties hit ‘In The Shadows’. Heinonen joins the range of industry heavyweights and innovators who will share their knowledge throughout a range of workshops and discussion panels.
Innovative Music Video Clip Exhibition
In addition to the panels laden with industry experts from all areas of the Music Video realm, a Music Video Exhibition showcases the best in music video production from Australian & New Zealand and allows you to explore the extension of this ever-changing medium.

Jesse Kanda Keynote Speech at Carriageworks
This year, CARRIAGEWORKS & CLIPPED are proud to present acclaimed director, Jesse Kanda will deliver a keynote lecture on the night of the Festival launch (Friday 1 June). This London based artist, musician and music video director has a distinctive and arresting style which is instantly recognisable. Having worked with artists such as Bjork, FKA Twigs and Arca, Kanda will be a guest of CLIPPED and share his deep insights into collaborating some of the world’s biggest artists.
Quickly establishing itself as an industry leader in the video clip realm, CLIPPED Music Video Festival is Australia’s premiere event dedicated to celebrating the art of the music video, and joins the best minds in the industry from Australia, New Zealand and beyond. Programmed as part of Vivid Ideas, this year’s the event will be held at the grand and historic Carriageworks, a multi-arts venue which similarly aims to promote diverse, collaborative and innovative artistic expression.
