Born to American and Egyptian parents, Col3trane’s musical upbringing was cross-cultural. Developing an instinct for rhythm and melody, Col3trane drew affiliations to various UK rap and hip-hop collectives across the UK and met collaborators including J Moon and Lauren Ralph, producers of his debut singles and mixtape. His appetite for collaborations also led him to feature on singles for rising UK star Ebenezer and London producer SG Lewis.

After collecting accolades in 2017 for his debut “Tsarina” mixtape, Col3trane began work on his expansive new project; a second mixtape “BOOT” which dropped today. Featuring production from Rogét Chahayed (Solange, Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott), DJDS (Kanye, Charlotte Day Lewis) Nicky Davey (The Internet) and Cadenza (Jorja Smith), the mixtape builds on Col3trane’s blueprint of emotionally intelligent lyricism, future-facing beats and genre elasticity.

Col3trane recently released a double music video for his new singles ‘Fear & Loathing’ and ‘Britney’ – dubbed a ‘trippy exploration of time’ (The Fader), where he played with crazy perspectives in a way that gave the illusion of a glitch in the space-time continuum – a nod to the drug induced haze of Hunter S Thompson’s acclaimed novel.

Having recently finished touring the U.K. with Dua Lipa – these intimate performances will mark the 19-year old’s official debut to Australian shores. Col3trane’s infectious mix of gooey, synth-warmed choruses, glitchy, rolling percussion and post-Blonde poetry is relatable and raw, yet there’s no hint of the formulaic emotional response in his songwriting: this is off-the-leash urbane sentimentality and it’s coming for you.
