ECCA VANDAL Announces
NATIONAL TOUR +
Releases DEBUT ALBUM
Melbourne’s genre-defying and electrifying force in music, Ecca Vandal, today reveals the release date of her self-titled, debut album alongside her new single and official video ‘Future Heroine.’ Ecca Vandal the album will be unleashed into the world on October 20 via Dew Process / UMA and to mark its release Ecca today announces she will be heading out across the country for a massive, not-to-be-missed, 10-date, national headline tour throughout November. Special guests to be announced and tickets on sale now.
Wielding a dark and primal industrial beat ‘Future Heroine’ is painted with Ecca’s incredible vocal dexterity, while harnessing her explosive energy and commanding aggression.
“‘Future Heroine’ is about the death of a relationship,” says Vandal, “where addictions win and take priority over love, health and happiness. In the video, I play the role of the persistent voice in my lover’s head, from two very opposing perspectives.”
The surreal and provocative clip depicts those two conflicting characters of Vandal’s psyche, unleashing Heaven and Hell upon her lover as he trips through a decadent, otherworldly backdrop of debauchery and excess. The video was co-directed by Vandal and Melbourne-based filmmaker / cinematographer Amy Dellar of Indoor Fountains.
“I was really proud that the extended crew we put together was predominantly female,” says Vandal. “So far, I’ve only been on film sets where men dominate, so it was very exciting to see women ruling!! I reckon every aspect of the process becomes sweeter when the team happens to be spearheaded by females.”
“I met a range of new creatives, mainly those we scouted for on Instagram, and it was a privilege to collab with all of them. One of my favourite things in life would be meeting and connecting with other like-minded creatives. When things click, a special bond forms and the collab becomes super powerful.”
“‘Broke Days, Party Nights’ is the new fight-for-your-right punk anthem… which might make you rethink all your priorities.” – i-D
The thundering first taste of the Ecca Vandal album came in the form of ‘Broke Days, Party Nights’, a call to arms to live life to its peak and to never let finances or rulebooks stop you from tearing the roof off the joint and having a great time. The track premiered on the airwaves via triple j’s Goodnights With Linda and was added straight to their playlist and gained praise both on home soil as well as internationally.
If you were expecting this record is just like the Ecca you’ve come to know and adore – you’re in for some rude surprises, as showcased by the sonic disparity between ‘BDPN’ and ‘Future Heroine.’ Co-produced by Vandal and EV band member Kidnot in their DIY home studio in Melbourne, the album sees Ecca collaborating on album track ‘Price Of Living’ with bone fide punk rock legend and her personal hero Dennis Lyxen of Refused along with Letlive powerhouse vocalist Jason Aalon Butler. Collaboration continues on ‘Dead Wait’, where she reunites with Sydney bass master Moonbase and Aussie superstar Sampa The Great lends her inimitable voice to the other-worldly hip hop sound of ‘Your Orbit’ which was co-written with the radar-detecting Darwin Deez.
Ecca Vandal has already enjoyed some huge career moments this year, she kicked off 2017 with a scorching set at Laneway festival Melbourne, as well as being hand-picked as the support act by rock ’n’ roll royalty, Queens Of The Stone Age, for their massive Australian headline shows – to warm up crowds at the Hordern Pavilion and Festival Hall.
“Scraps of The Rapture’s haywire electro are sewn onto Charli XCX-y pop bombast, with punk aggro, hardcore rhythms, and hedonistic spirit splattered across the melee – it’s a totally chaotic, patchwork concoction that grabs you by the scruff of the neck and drags you to your feet. ” – The Line Of Best Fit
Ecca Vandal is now poised to take her blistering, energetic live show across the country armed with brand-new material before she makes her live UK debut as special guests supporting British punk rock mainstays Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, fronted by former Gallows and Pure Love front man Frank Carter. Ecca will then return home to celebrate the new year by performing alongside the likes of Run The Jewels, The Kooks, Liam Gallagher and Vince Staples at The Falls Music And Arts Festival.
