Melbourne’s annual music and creative arts summit Face The Music is just around the corner! Face The Music promised a party this year, a party celebrating the people behind some of 2017’s biggest music stories and creators of positive industry change.
After adding a serve of intimidatingly talented bands and artists to the program just two weeks ago, today the summit unveils its full program. It’s rather HUGE, with the inclusion of Iceland Airwaves Managing Director Grímur Atlason, FBi Radio’s Music Director Amelia Jenner, triple j’s new kid on the block Bridget Hustwaite, and Berlin Sound Diplomacy’s Katerina Ivanova, leader of the Music Cities movement headed to Melbourne 2018. Also making their way to this year’s summit; music critic Shaad D’Souza, author & critic Brodie Lancaster, radio and TV personality Ash London, Sounds Australia’s Millie Millgate, plus festival booker Richard Moffat and Pozible General Manager Elliot Chapple.
.
.
In true Face The Music fashion, the summit has opened a number of genuinely accessible workshop and career meetings for young folks entering the creative arts, as well as for those wanting to further establish themselves. And as promised, the program is loaded with a diverse range of topics that include international touring, audience development, startup and new business opportunities, fandom influence, creative funding and technology, as well as social discussion around race, gender, mental health and wellbeing.
Will you spend your Melbourne Music Week on the couch? Or will you hit the bricks, take yourself to church, and surround yourself with some of the greatest minds the music industry has seen? November 23 and 24, St Paul’s Cathedral, in the music capital of Australia. While there’s music and moonlight and love and romance, face the music and dance.
