Mona’s summer festival Mofo today announced the lineup for its official after party Faux Mo, which will occupy MAC2 on Hobart’s waterfront after the festivities wind down on the museum site each night, from Friday 19 to Sunday 21 January.

Leave your inhibitions at the door when you enter a strange world at Mofo’s late night art party. When the sun goes down, this pleasure-loving communion will have you cheek-to-cheek with visionaries, see you shipwreck your soul on the dance floor and surrender your heart to the disco.

Directed by Willoh S.Weiland, in collaboration with creative associates James Brennan, Selena de Carvalho, Aedan Howlett and James Walsh some of Faux Mo’s international highlights will include beserk Angolan-Portuguese dance music direct from Lisbon’s DJ Nigga Fox; Dutch-Iranian electronic artist Sevdaliza will spook the masses with her unnerving voice and soaring club sound; from Beijing Howie Lee with Veeeky and Thoiid bring futuristic club music live from inside the matrix; sleazy pop beats from Brooklynite DJ and producer Animal Feelings AKA Oli Chang, and hardcore electronica courtesy of  Chicago DJ extraordinaire Jlin will take you to the dark side – plus so much more.

Dozens of local acts will also appear at this year’s Faux Mo including two of Hobart’s finest lady powers Act Natural and Puffy Pank who will smooth things over with sticky-sweet house music, Persian disco and RnB; renowned dancer, director and maker Natalie Abbott is breaking all the rules with Hobart’s Mature Artist Dance Experience; post punk queer gals, the Slag Queens will play post-punk, garage and pop slop – they like feminism, glitter and pizza; political activists Tassie Nannas will knit some bling for the kids and for the very first time Faux Mo is partnered with Tas Pride, Tassie’s premier LGBTIQ advocates, party makers and support service for the queer community for three nights of performance and unbridled celebration.

Other curiosities include some bloody good operatic songs from tenor Andrew Goodwin; futuristic video worlds constructed from the darkest corners of the internet by Tristan Jalleh; death metal dance meets gamelan and the poetry of Anne Sexton by Axon Breeze; experimental dance music, pop party starters and dancefloor politics from Sezzo Snot and send in the clowns with Theatre of Disco – after a 10 year hiatus, they’ve reformed for this, their last show ever…maybe.
