’You’ve just unleashed this completely everlasting warmth and moving piece of sound. This is special.‘
– Claire Mooney, triple j ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
’… [Docks is a] melodically complex… charming, clever pop song…’
– Dom Alessio, triple j ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️‘…stellar…purposeful…If it’s any indication of the quality entailed in a broader release, it’s safe to say that album will likely be something special to behold indeed.’

Fresh from playing City Limits Festival, resident Perth oddity/singer-songwriter Jacob Diamond shares the stunning video for his previous single “Docks”. The clip lands just in time for the first date of his launch tour, which kicks off locally at The Bird tonight with support from Telete and New Nausea.
Directed and conceptualised by Matt Sav (POND, Tame Impala, Jack River, San Cisco), the lush, simplistic visuals for “Docks” – a song to be sung in life’s moments of great impact – see Diamond drifting through desolate locations at twilight, adorned in odd and ill-fitting garb. As his realisations (and the songs’ inescapably cathartic climax) mount, he begins tossing away his earthly belongings and stripping himself of old bonds, until ultimately re-immersing bare into the endless murk.

Released last year prior to most recent cut “Blue Begets Blue”, “Docks” is the lead single from Jacob Diamond’s forthcoming debut LP, to be released in 2018. Having dedicated his life to crafting bold, insightful music that “doesn’t go away”, Diamond’s work has previously earnt him the WAM Gong for Best Folk Act, healthy consistent airplay on community radio, a spot on multiple festival lineups including tastemaking retreat Camp Doogs, and myriad praise. Drawing inspiration from his zealous religious upbringing, rock operas and the utter confusion that nobody seems to be able to escape, Diamond’s work is open-hearted, vulnerable and warm.
Diamond’s ability to turn a simple gig into “an absolute health retreat for your body and soul” (Isolated Nation) make his “Docks” video launch tour one not to be missed.
