Following up to an impressive debut, Juice Webster has today shared her sophomore single ‘You’ve Not Come To Hurt Me’ and has announced the release date of her debut solo EP, “You Who Was Myself” – out October 18.

The Melbourne based singer-songwriter, who fuses together intricate, classy folk stylings with divine vocal melodies, has been making a name for herself as a solo artist outside of Hemm, the electronic-pop project she co-founded with Bobby Downie. With a tone and charisma beyond her years, Webster’s sound harks back to the elegance heard in the works of Nick Cave, Cat Power, Emmy-Lou Harris or Jeff Buckley, from whom she draws inspiration.

Of her latest single Webster shares, “I wrote ‘You’ve Not Come to Hurt Me’ one night a few years ago when I was feeling pretty lonely. I felt like there was a lot of space around me which made room for daunting thoughts.” Her ability to reveal emotion through mature and considered alt-folk breathes life into experiences many others can relate, adding, “The song is about desperately wanting company from anyone who is willing to provide it, even if that someone is a total stranger. I want a distraction from the inevitable; someone to pass the time with.”

Blending classic characteristics associated with folk music with alt/indie rock, Webster often deviates from traditional pop song structures, creating compositions of an intuitive nature. Her ethereal, haunting vocals have been described by triple j Unearthed as “angelic… something pretty heavenly”, conjure a mood and vulnerability heard in the subject matter of her songs.

Taken from her debut body of work You Who Was Myself (EP) – a collection of songs written over the past few years – detail the moments and experiences endured during a period of emotional reflection. Exploring common themes of heartbreak, anxiety, loneliness and bottomless love, in a way that feels deeply familiar to all who listen.

Juice Webster’s sophomore single ‘You’ve Not Come To Hurt Me’ is out now and available anywhere online. Her debut EP, “You Who Was Myself” will be released digitally on October 18.
