Mama Kin Spender
.
Mischief musical collaboration Mama Kin Spender (MKS) and their gorgeous debut music video, ‘Air Between Us’ has set the bar high, with MKS taking on a tour of national festival dates, involving local choirs in each performance. The duo is made up of ARIA Award nominated Danielle Caruana ‘Mama Kin’ from Fremantle, and ex-Custom Kings and Gotye collaborator from Melbourne, Tommy ‘Spender’. The two artists combined forces to lift the loneliness of being a solo artist, finding inspiration in collaboration and spreading that unique feeling of pure joy to the community choirs they invite to perform with them on the tour, and by extension, the audiences at each vibrant and joy filled performance.

Yoko-Zuna
.
Introducing Auckland’s Yoko-Zuna to Australia for the first time with the BIGSOUND showcase. With their combination of unique electronic/hip-hop compositions and a live show which is rarely bettered, Yoko-Zuna is an act with talent to burn. Although a prog electronic band, Yoko-Zuna feature as an important part of the rising ‘conscious hip hop’ movement currently taking over, featuring musicians concerned with social issues, indigenous rights and alternative political statement. Following their recent singles ‘January Sun’, which demonstrates the bands’ jazz-trained style of performance, and the hip hop fueled party track ‘Yes ft. Heavy & LarzRanda’, Yoko-Zuna are currently working on their second album, due for release early 2018.

Fanny Lumsden
.
Fanny Lumsden’s sophmore album ‘Real Class Act’ (due out Sept 22nd) makes her almost impossible to musically pigeonhole; not quite alt-country, not quite indie folk, but filled with the warmth and humanity of both genres with a welcome touch of pop. She’s celebrating her upcoming album with the single ‘Roll On’, and a national Country Halls Tour, where Fanny raises funds for local communities while journeying to rural towns, metro areas, BIGSOUND, and running community workshops along the way. The debut album ‘Small Town Big Shot’ saw Fanny’s rare style of writing; a mix of sass, honesty and alt-country, combine to make the ARIA nominated and crowd-funded album a major national success. Fanny has gone on to take out the 2017 Golden Guitar Award, the CMC Best New Talent Award, and the APRA Professional Development Award. Find out what makes all who see Fanny perform totally besotted by her at BIGSOUND.
