Singles Chartifacts: 

#1: George Ezra ‘Shotgun’ – For the third week in a row, ‘Shotgun’ by George Ezra holds #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart.

#5: Marshmello & Bastille ‘Happier’ – Moving up one spot from last week, ‘Happier’ by Marshmello and Bastille hits a new peak at #5. It’s the track’s seventh week in the Top 50.

#8: Khalid ‘Better’ – In its third week in the chart, Khalid’s ‘Better’ moves up four spots to crack the Top Ten for the first time at #8. It becomes the American artist’s third Top Ten as a lead artist. His highest peak to date was with ‘Love Lies’ (#3 Apr. ’18).

#10: Loud Luxury ‘Body’ – Canadian house duo Loud Luxury move up four spots to #10 with ‘Body’. It becomes the pair’s first Top Ten in Australia.

#13: Dynoro ‘In My Mind’ – Climbing up five spots to #13, Lithuanian producer Dynoro takes out a new peak with his debut chart entry, ‘In My Mind’.

#1: The John Butler Trio ‘Home’ (Debut) – ARIA Award winners The John Butler Trio score their fourth #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart with Home. The group’s seventh studio album is the follow-up to Flesh & Blood (#2 Feb. ’14). They’ve previously topped the ARIA Charts with April Uprising (#1 Apr. ’10), Grand National (#1 Apr. ’07) and Sunrise Over Sea (#1 Mar. ’04).

Home is the ninth Australian #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart in 2018 after The Amity Affliction’s Misery, Amy Shark’s Love Monster, 5 Seconds Of Summer’s Youngblood, Sheppard’s Watching The Sky, Parkway Drive’s Reverence, Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu’s Djarimirri (Child Of The Rainbow), Kylie Minogue’s Goldenand Vance Joy’s Nation Of Two.  

#2: Cher ‘Dancing Queen’ (Debut) – The legendary Cher debuts at #2 on this week’s ARIA Albums Chart with Dancing Queen. An album of covers of ABBA songs, it’s the American entertainer’s 26th studio album and the first since Closer To The Truth (#17 Sept. ’13). It becomes her first to hit the Top Ten in Australia since The Greatest Hits (#5 Jan. ’00). Cher first topped the Albums Chart 29 years ago with Heart Of Stone (#1 Nov. ’89).

#3: The Living End ‘Wunderbar’ (Debut) – Melbourne trio The Living End release their eighth studio album, Wunderbar. Recorded in Berlin, it’s the band’s eighth studio album and comes just over two years on from previous release Shift (#4 May ’16). They have previously topped the ARIA Albums Chart twice with their self-titled debut (#1 Oct. ’98) and State Of Emergency (#1 Feb. ’06).

#5: Cold Chisel ‘The Best Of Cold Chisel: All For You’ – After debuting at #2 back in October 2011, Australian rock legends Cold Chisel move up to #5 with their Best Of album. A deluxe vinyl reissue has just been released for the fans. It now notches up its eleventh week in the Top 10. Their front man Jimmy Barnes also makes an appearance in this week’s ARIA Albums Chart at #11.

#6: Lil Wayne ‘Tha Carter V’ (Debut) – Lil Wayne scores a new Albums Chart peak with Tha Carter V. The American rapper’s twelfth studio album is his first to chart since I Am Not A Human Being II (#43 Apr. ’13) and features appearances by Nicki Minaj, Travis Scott, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar and more. Lil Wayne’s previous chart peak was with The Carter IV (#9 Sept. ’11).

#8: Logic ‘YSIV’ (Debut) – American rapper Logic takes out a fourth Albums Chart entry with YSIV. His fourth studio album features guest spots by all living members of the Wu Tang Clan, Jaden Smith, Hailee Steinfeld, Ryan Tedder and more. It becomes Logic’s highest Albums Chart peak, surpassing Bobby Tarantino II (#10 Mar. ’18).

#11: Jimmy Barnes ‘Working Class Boy – The Soundtracks’ – Following the television screening of his documentary last week, the legendary Jimmy Barnes moves back up into the Top 20 after a five week absence. The album debuted at #3 back in August earlier this year. Barnes’ former band Cold Chisel also features in the Top 10 at #5.

#15: Rod Stewart ‘Blood Red Roses’ (Debut) – British singer-songwriter Rod Stewart releases his 30th solo album, Blood Red Roses. Coming three years on from Another Country (#9 Nov. ’15), it’s Stewart’s first studio album since being knighted in 2016.
