You wear many hats today, from DJ to Producer, Radio Host, and selector – was music always part of your plan?
I just fell into it more so, silently learning in the background and then I became obsessive about it. I love to keep learning new skills in music – and you really have to these days. It has made me appreciate producers so much more given the work that goes into creating.
Went I first got into music I was a drummer as a kid, but then as time passed I went into radio and djing. I originally tried to start learning to produce around 12 years ago but I found it so hard that I gave up. Something was sparked again 2 years ago and I decided to go in hard this time.
When you work in music, it’s always fun learning every aspect of the the craft. It’s great to be a dj, but also, why be a bystander when you can try and create the music yourself. The skills you learn as a DJ prime you to be able to write music because you instinctively know what works on a dance floor.

As someone who has played at some the world’s most loved festivals, what would you say have been your career highlights so far?
Honestly this is such a hard question but it will always be the early days for me. No one is self made and I will always remember the opportunities I’ve been given especially in Australia, like Meredith. Bringing my dad up on stage I will never forget that moment. Closing Pitch Festival in 2017, Strawberry Fields playing there 6 years in a row really helped me hone in on how to play festivals. I’m biased but nothing compares to the Strawberry Fields site, held on Yorta Yorta land. It really is the best festival site in the world and Jesus Christ I’ve seen a lot now. For me it will always be the Australian festival moments, we have something really special there.

You’re renowned for always bringing an eclectic mix of music to your shows, how would you describe your sound on this EP?
Yes all over the shop, as I like to call it.
The sound of this EP is and ode to the EU summer, Chez Moi (waiting for you) is all about the summer parties, the butterflies you get at festivals, or from just dancing on beach with friends.
“Out of you mind” is a sassy club tune, it’s one for to just let loose and move the hips, strut and not give a fuck.

Your new single ‘Chez Moi (Waiting For You)’ has just been released! How did the collaboration come about with Janet Planet?
We have a great love story tbh , we met on a beach in far north Qld on an island on jet skis and it was love at first sight, she’s one of a kind so we became friends in a minute.
Janet Planet had been asking me for ages to get into the studio with her to work on a track and if you know her you know she doesn’t take no for an answer – ever, haha!
After I wrote ‘Out of your mind’, I showed Janet and within 30 seconds she had been humming a top line and recording it on her phone. It was so easy to work with her.

Is there an album on the drawing board?
I mean who knows , my parents are still shocked I finished high school let alone got a degree, I didn’t think I would be a dj, let alone make music, so the sky is the limit … I’ve got so many tunes on go so maybe one day soon :)

What can we expect from your upcoming tour in Australia?
Same as ever, big tunes, big drums, vocals and a damn good dance. I’m really excited to do more shows outside the capital cities though, Alice springs, Darwin. It’s time to see and play in what feels like the real Australia. I always think that some of my best shows have been outside major cities. I wish there were more events in those areas. Being a country girl at heart, I love the country gigs.

On the production side, what can we expect next?
Guitar, Italo, big percussion is a real focus on next EP which which is not too far away 😀

With that in mind, what piece of advice would you give to an artist just starting out?
“Just fucking do it”, is my motto for everything. I’ve definitely scared a few young kids off when I blurt that out when I’m asked for advice. But if you don’t try you will just be a bystander, and that can really make people sour and regretful later in life. If you want to create just jump in the ring, everything that is good takes time so just get started. If you love music its is about the journey too, not just playing mainstages and videos of people with their hands up, the best moments are djing to yourself in your bedroom or making a track that makes you think ‘fuck I did this on my own’.
