“Dolly Dagger creates a warm yet melancholic blend on her new song “Break and Bend” that surely belongs as much in the late Nineties as it does in today’s rock scape.” (Rolling Stone) [About ‘Break and Bend’]
‘”filled with gorgeous vocal melodies blended with crushing rock guitar riffs.” (The Point Music News)
“The name fits her, and her music. It’s a sweet/sour dichotomy…her music shifts gears between moods and vibes in a similar fashion.” (LA Weekly)
“Charged with feminine power and rocking vocals” (Backseat Mafia) [About ‘Say What You Wanna’]

Have you always wanted to be an artist? When did you get the song writing bug? Briefly describe the journey till now.
It all started out fairly early for me with vocal and guitar lessons in high-school, just for fun. I started writing around 14 with poetry but it grew from there as I’d often just write about anything and everything. Later in high school when music study taught me about song structure I was able to turn my words in to coherent pieces with the guitar or piano and form whole songs together.
How would you describe your sound? Why do you think fans resonate with your music?
We’ve recently landed on doom and groove as a fairly good explanation of our sound. Heavy but with groove and melody, I write pretty honestly so I hope to think the lyrics mean something to the people listening and I love when people reach out and share how the songs have resonated with them. Some people are in to the riffs and instrumentation or energy which is also super cool!
Which artist’s music and/or performance, past or present, inspires you today?
For me, Paramore are a huge inspiration and incredible performers. Their live shows always deliver and their dedication to their craft, their music and lyrics plus their growth as a band is super inspiring. They’re one of many bands that have inspired me personally as well as Deftones, Taking Back Sunday and Phantogram just to name a few.
Your latest single ‘Tower’ has just been released! Describe its origin and evolution.
Louie and Jesse get really stuck into the riffs on this one, their energy was infections in the writing session and it all happened super-fast. Jesse had the riff that morning and showed it to Louie at the start of our session and we decided to work with that as a staring point and it ended up with what we have today. Tower is a little heavier than usual for us but it still has the melodic focus that I appreciate so much. It’s definitely of the metal/ rock persuasion but with some real groove thanks to our Producer Louie Diller, he really bought out the best in Jesses guitars riffs and laid down the drums that really sent it home!
Is there an EP or ALBUM on the drawing board?
There is a plan for an EP in place, we’re never short on material, the hard part is deciding which ones make the cut and represent who we are and honestly the vibes, they just have to be right so we’ll see what we end up with!
Your single launch is in Melbourne on the 14th April, and you have a show in LA on the 3rd June. What are you looking forward to, and what can the fans expect?
Yes the launch was incredible, it was so amazing to have the support after being away for so log and performing in my home town was so special! Looking forward to getting back to LA and playing with friends at the Whiskey because its always an incredible and fun time there.

Any other events coming up later in the year?
I’ve set some thing in motion for the end of this year and am hopeful for another Australia visit so stay tuned for more about that!
If you could perform with any music artist, Alive or Dead, who would you choose? And why?
I would love to pay with the Deftones some day, there live show is so good and having been a fan for a long time, their audience is so fun to mosh with so it would be amazing to open for them and then jump in the crowd for their set!
What are your long-term aspirations as a music artist and how are you progressing towards them?
Touring and playing shows would be incredible, we’re working towards that as much as possible and releasing more music of course so getting back in the studio and recording is always the goal.
With that in mind, what piece of advice would you give to an artist starting out?
Find your team, the people that you can rely on and build your sound with so you can get your releases out is a great start. You know what you sound like in your head or at rehersal but having music out for people to hear is the whole point so tae your time crafting but don’t hold back, just go for it!
What is the best thing about performing to a live audience? What’s been the career highlight so far?
The energy is unmatched, being able to share your music with people and have them singing it back to you or seeing the crowd move along is my version of church. My fave was a recent show at Resident in LA where we had all friends on the line up and our amazing community came out to support, we felt great and the performance was a buzz! Those ones are my favourite!
