Have you always wanted to be a musician? When did you get the song writing bug?
I’ve always been drawn to music. Growing up I watched my dad play in bands does that I guess. I have always wanted to be a musician, although the type of musician has changed. I started writing silly pop songs when I was around 12 and I just never stopped.
How would you describe your sound? Why do you think fans resonate with your music?
I think to call my sound ‘raw alt rock’. It’s getting harder and harder to define my music with a genre. I’m highly influenced by a mix of folk pop, grunge & alt rock. I’d like to think that fans are able to connect with my music as lyrically they may be able to relate.
Which artist’s music and/or performance, past or present, inspires you today?
I have been (and still am) obsessed with Hayley Williams solo project as well as Paramores new album. It’s not like anything else I’ve heard & it’s something I really resonate with.
Your new album ‘Yes, I’ve Been Crying’ has just been released! Describe its origin and evolution.
I went through a really tough breakup a couple years ago and one of the ways I process difficult emotions is through songwriting. This album was never planned, it just slowly came together over the span of a year until I realised I had an albums worth of new songs.
.
.
What are the signature tracks and which is your favorite – to listen to/to play live?
I’m yet to play any of these songs live but I’m probably most excited about playing ‘Dizzy’. I’ve rehearsed it with my band and it’s just fun to play!
You have some album release tour dates coming up in February? What are you looking forward to, and what can the fans expect?
Yes! This will be our first run of shows since 2022! I’m so keen to get into playing shows again, it’s one of my favourite things about being a musician is performing the songs and getting the rush of playing live! You can expect some old songs, new songs from the album and even some unreleased songs.
If you could perform with any music artist, Alive or Dead, who would you choose? And why?
Hayley Williams!! I saw Paramore live last week and the energy is just amazing. I really look up to her as a songwriter and also performer. I would love to collab with her one day.
What are your long-term aspirations as a music artist and how are you progressing towards them?
We’re aiming to play more shows & we have some exciting things already planned for 2024
.
.
With that in mind, what piece of advice would you give to an artist starting out?
Just be yourself and make use of the opportunities you get.
What is the best thing about performing to a live audience? What’s been the career highlight so far?
The energy you get back from audience and when a mosh forms! A highlight for me is when I performed for the first time and I had a long time fan from Brazil turn up! They had been watching my videos since my youtube cover days which was awesome.
Finally, a few questions for some quick answers –
