Have you always wanted to be a musician? When did you get the song writing bug?
My musical journey started in high school when I joined choirs and singing groups. It was almost a treatment for my anxiety. I started playing around with songwriting around year 10 and by year 12 had written a few songs. I didn’t really know if I wanted to be a musician until the end of high school when I started thinking about my career pathway and decided to jump into music at WAAPA to study songwriting.
How would you describe your sound? Why do you think fans resonate with your music?
My sound had been constantly evolving over the years, starting off quite folky and slowly developing into a bigger pop/soul sound. I think the people that resonate with my music are ones that enjoy connecting to the lyricism of a song and how it might evoke certain memories or relate to their lives in some way.
Which artist’s music and/or performance, past or present, inspires you today?
I have always found myself heavily inspired by Florence Welch and Stevie Nicks for the power and strength they show on stage, and as vocalists and songwriters.
Your new single ‘Ripples’ has just been released! Describe its origin and evolution.
The concept of my new single ‘Ripples’ came about at Nannup Music Festival in the South West region of WA. I was listening to my friend play a set in an outdoor auditorium whilst it was raining and the area below the stage began flooding. I noticed people tapping along to her sound in their wellies, creating lots of different Ripples in the water, un-phased by the fact everything was wet. I always feel so proud and in awe when watching my friends play to a crowd and I decided to write a song inspired by this experience to acknowledge my friendships and how grateful I am for the supportive people around me.

You have a new EP ‘A Change In The Wind’ coming out in March. What are the signature tracks, and what is your favorite track to play live?
‘April’ and ‘Ripples’ are the 2 signature tracks of the EP. At the moment, I really enjoy playing ‘April’ live because it’s a really fun song to perform and its uplifting, energetic vibe always seems to resonate with the crowd.
Any tours or events coming up soon? What are you looking forward to, and what can the fans expect?
We have booked a launch show for the EP in April, and are in the process of booking some other shows around the metro and south-west region of WA in May to continue the celebration of the release. We are hoping to have a mix of intimate and full band shows, and I’m looking forward to playing some lovely gigs and sharing music with new audiences.
If you could perform with any music artist, Alive or Dead, who would you choose? And why?
It would probably have to be Stevie Nicks because she is so iconic and even in the later years of her life is still living up to the rock star title on stage.
What are your long-term aspirations as a music artist and how are you progressing towards them?
I aspire to play shows with friends and support artists that inspire me, whilst also touring and travelling around the world to explore, learn and share my music with people.
With that in mind, what piece of advice would you give to an artist starting out?
Always remind yourself why music is important to you and why you have chosen to do it, because as long as you are living and creating as authentically to yourself as possible, the more rewarding and special the journey will be.
What is the best thing about performing to a live audience? What’s been the career highlight so far?
Connecting with different people and sharing in an experience or memory together is something really special. Performing at Nannup Music Festival in 2023 was such a special opportunity and being given the chance to perform live on Telethon was definitely a career highlight too.
