Congratulations on the release of your debut single Daily Grind! What is the inspiration behind this song?
Thanks! We’re stoked to have it out! It all started with a demo called ‘Funnest song’ composed by Ryan. We wanted to write a song that matched the song’s energy, and came up with lyrics about the themes of daily life; having fun and letting go. It’s a pretty literal song that challenges the notion of the monotonous daily grind – waking up, going to work, etc. etc.. really, encouraging you to make the most of your life.

How did the band come together? Is there someone who is a “driving force”, or do you all make decisions together?
Ryan and Nelson, reached out to the rest of us. We all met each other for the first time when we first got together, which was a bit awkward at the start but after chatting and realizing how weird and crazy we all are, and how we are all passionate about creating music, our bond really took off from there!
We all have our own strengths and based on them, we all make decisions together! We really value making decisions together as we’ve quickly become friends.

What’s the inspiration behind your band name Visiting Hours?
The name is initially personal to a band member and when they suggested it and explained the reason behind it, we resonated with it and haven’t looked back. We love it!

How would you describe your sound? Why do you think people resonate with your music?
We try not to limit our sound but we try to capture a sound that isn’t always super polished – We like it that way! It’s still in your face and it’s still music that gets up and about.
Our music is down to earth, we like writing about real stuff that life can throw at you but we keep it energetic, fun, fresh but nostalgic all at the same time.

What do you hope your fans / listeners feel when listening to Daily Grind?
We hope it makes you feel the way we feel! Like you’re 14 again, on the bus, on the way to school, listening on your iPod, subtly headbanging and dreaming of what life is going to be like in 10+ years time!

Which artist’s music and/or performance, past or present, inspires you today?
If we had to pick one, it would be Paramore! The energy and the messages that this band delivers is incredibly impactful. They’ve obviously been the powerhouse and on top for so long it’s hard to think of any one else straight away.

If you could perform with any music artist, Alive or Dead, who would you choose? And why?
Oh you got us thinking hard! Well we did hear about NSYNC getting back together.. give the fellas a call!

What’s next for Visiting Hours?
More tunes are in the making! And we are super excited to play them for everyone and bring them to life on stage!

What’s a final message you have for your listeners reading this interview?
