How did the band come together?
Zeke (vocals) was hungover on a plane to Perth for his cousin’s wedding, when he was spotted by Pete (Guitars) who was travelling to Perth to get laid. Pete and Zeke knew each other from High School so rekindled the musical connection that already stood and then Nick and Zane completed the puzzle. That was 2005, that’s how old we are.

Is there someone who is a “driving force”, or do you all make decisions together?
It’s highly democratic, and to be fair, I think that everyone has different moments when we “drive” the “force” that is Mammal. Live it’s Zeke or indomitable front-man and excitement machine, when it comes to strategy, Pete’s your man, merchandise and rhythm Zane has it locked down and good vibes and listening skills it’s Kade. We’re a true “band’s band”.

How would you describe your sound? 
Neo-punk shock rock for the ages.

Why do you think people resonate with your music?
Because we punch up and we always rock hardest.

Which artist’s music and/or performance, past or present, inspires you today?
Dolly Parton is always relevant. New stuff, Stray From The Path.

What are the signature tracks on the album, and which is your favourite?
“Keanu Reeves” sets the tone as a stand out. It’s tough, righteous and undeniable.

If you could perform with any music artist, Alive or Dead, who would you choose? And why? 
Dolly Parton. She’s the G.O.A.T and an inspiration to all.

What are your long-term aspirations as a music artist and how are you progressing towards them?
We’ve achieved so much already. Just to keep putting out albums first. Then we’d like to tour the US and continental Europe. We’re already pretty big in the UK.

With that in mind, what piece of advice would you give to an artist starting out?
Practice, get really good at playing live, don’t listen to haters (but let them inspire you) and always call your Mum from the road.

What is the best thing about performing to a live audience?
The anthropological connection that music brings to every space.

What’s been the career highlight so far?
Our last gig at 170 Russell. 1100 fans screaming for more, and a band that left everything on the floor.

What is the one topic you can talk about for hours? – Destroying capitalism.
