ACCLAIMED MARYLAND RAPPER UNVEILS LABEL DEBUT MIXTAPE
PROJECT HIGHLIGHTED BY HIT HIP-HOP TRACKS INCLUDING RAGE, TRUST ISSUES AND IN THE AIR FT. BLOCBOY JB

Atlantic/Sugar Trap recording artist Rico Nasty has released her hugely anticipated label debut mixtape. Nasty – which features cover art designed by yung jake – is available at all DSPs and streaming services now. The video for “Countin’ Up” is available to view here.

Nasty – which follows the Maryland-based rapper’s 2017 breakthrough mixtape, Sugar Trap 2 – is highlighted by two recently released tracks, “Trust Issues” (named “Best New Track” by Pitchfork upon its initial arrival) and “Rage”, both available now at all DSPs and streaming services. Produced by Kenny Beats, both tracks are joined by colorful companion visuals streaming now at Rico Nasty’s official YouTube channel. The project also features “Countin’ Up”, which pays homage to Noreaga’s 1998 hit Super Thug (What What) — marking the 20th anniversary of his N.O.R.E album.

Recently featured on the cover of The FADER’s annual Summer Music issue, Rico Nasty released her 2014 debut mixtape, SUMMER’S EVE, at just 16 years of age and immediately drummed up a burgeoning buzz online. Next, 2016’s iCarly sent shockwaves through SoundCloud, generating nearly 1.3 million plays thus far. She followed up with another explosive track taking its title from a Nickelodeon classic, Hey Arnold, this time blowing away none other than Lil Yachty, whose remix quickly earned more than 6 million individual streams by year’s end. The two came together again in 2017 for Yachty’s Mamacita (Feat. Rico Nasty), a highlight of Atlantic Records and Universal Pictures The Fate of the Furious: The Album.

That same year kicked off with another acclaimed mixtape, Tales of Tacobella, earning widespread media attention spanning The Washington Post to Pigeons & Planes. Summer saw Rico heralding Sugar Trap 2 with the anthemic Poppin, which immediately landed a high-profile placement on HBO’s hit series, Insecure and a spot on Rolling Stone’s “40 Best Rap Albums of 2017.” The mixtape – which further highlights such hip-hop hits as KeyLime OG, Rojo, Spaceships, and Blue – prompted a storm of high profile media, with The FADER recently applauding, “With her cathartic raps and nonconformist spirit, this Maryland 20-year-old is one of hip-hop’s most exciting new talents.” Her style isn’t unlike the young male rappers of her generation,” wrote Noisey, “who blend pop punk fashion sensibilities with those of rap…But what also likens her to someone like (Lil Uzi Vert) is her ability to make music that inspires spirit-lifting glee with uptempo beats and high pitched yelps for ad libs.”

A wildly charismatic live performer, Rico Nasty earned acclaim for last year’s US nine-city headline Sugar Trap Tour as well as her recent performance at Rolling Loud in Miami and a show-stopping set at Austin, TX’s South by Southwest (SXSW) that saw The FADER rave, “Rico Nasty was a ball of energy…The DMV rapper brought the life, lighting up the audience with recent hits like Smack A Bitch and the just-released Trust Issues.’”
