SAN MEI new single ‘UNTIL YOU FEEL GOOD’ + announces APR/MAY TOUR dates

San Mei

San Mei returns with a spectacular first release for 2017, with brand new single ‘Until You Feel Good’ and a national tour to follow . After the success of last cut ‘Rewind’, the Gold Coast multi-instrumentalist is gathering some serious momentum, heading straight out on a headline tour in Melbourne and Sydney, capped off with a cheeky support slot for North East Party House in Brisbane.

‘Until You Feel Good’ takes San Mei’s intoxicating vocals and molds them into lush harmonic arrangements, which glide seamlessly over fuzzy guitar riffs. Combined with understated, subtle production from Konstantin Kersting (The Belligerents, WAAX, Tia Gostelow), the track is full of laid back grooves which escalate into soaring alt-rock melodies.
Achieving quite the list of accomplishments, San Mei has shared stages with Evar Klar, Polish ClubElliphant and playing The Mountain Goat Valley Crawl just in the last six months. Swiftly amassing followers from across the globe, she’s also received props from the likes of  NME, Indie Shuffle, Nylon Mag and triple j – where she also gained spot rotation for previous single ‘Rewind’.

‘Until You Feel Good’ is out Thursday 13th April and tickets are available online now.

ABOUT SAN MEI

San Mei’s single, ‘Until You Feel Good’ is out Thursday 13 April.

San Mei is the moniker of Gold Coast based, indie pop artist Emily Hamilton, whose solo project began in 2013 as a self produced bedroom pop project. San Mei garnered both international and local praise with singles ‘Wars’, ‘Brighter’, ‘Revel’ and ‘Rewind’ from tastemakers such aS NME, Indie Shuffle and NYLON Magazine tipping her as an artist to watch. After these releases and a few local shows, Emily took some time to work on her craft, developing San Mei into a bigger, more mature sound that progressed beyond the bedroom and into the studio. Emily’s love for music began at an early age while studying classical piano, as well as growing up in a household filled with music ranging from the Beatles, to opera , to musical theatre.

Although, it wasn’t until after an injury that saw her giving up a sport she loved soon after finishing high school, that Emily’s passion for music was ignited and she became determined to delve into music by way of learning new instruments (guitar, drums) and learning to write songs. Fast forward a few years and Emily enjoyed a six month stint residing in Canada, where she joined a local band and was given the opportunity to perform at the 2010 Winter Olympics torch relay ceremony in Golden, British Columbia. This experience fueled Emily’s love for music further, and upon returning home to Australia, she honed in on creating material that would eventually become San Mei, a project with an eclectic range of influences including The Black Keys, Stone Roses, Ladyhawke, Little Dragon, Cat Power and Lykke Li. San Mei’s last release, ‘Rewind’ was co-produced by Emily and Konstantin Kersting (The Belligerents) and has had a warm reception, including support and radio play from triple j.
