Grammy Award-winning multi-instrumentalist and producer STEVE LACY has today announced two highly anticipated shows at Melbourne’s Max Watt’s on Friday 14 February and Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory on Saturday 15 February.
Perhaps best known as the guitarist of progressive soul collective The Internet, Steve Lacy is a force of creative genius. He was Wired Magazine’s Tech Visionary, Time Magazine’s Most Influential Teen, has produced-written-featured with Solange, Vampire Weekend, Blood Orange, produced some of Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN on his iPhone, and was interviewed by Harry Styles for the cover feature of Man About Town magazine earlier this year.
Lacy’s solo efforts are genre-smashing gems that, according to Pitchfork, “sparkle with classic Southern California funk and soul.”
Debut album Apollo XXI was released this May to massive praise, solidifying the soul visionary’s bright future. Playful hooks, sun-drenched beats, and dreamy falsetto make for a rousing, standout release.
As a member of The Internet, Lacy earnt critical praise for breakout collaborative masterpiece Ego Death. Touring across the globe, earlier this year the group performed a sold out show at the prestigious Sydney Opera House, where Lacy teased new solo material to raucous reaction.
A dynamic performer in his own right, Steve Lacy boasts a live set emblazoned with hit singles such as ‘Dark Red’ and ‘C U Girl’ (with a combined 73 million streams on Spotify alone). A master guitarist with a honeyed vocal, the Compton native enthrals.
With an impressive list of accolades, Steve Lacy recently covered i-D’s Voice of a Generation Issue, Crack Magazine, GQ Korea, Document Journal, and modelled for Louis Vuitton and Gucci.
Entering the pantheon of urban pop greats, Steve Lacy’s Australian visit is not to be missed.
