As the residents of Wollongong wait with anticipation for the arrival of Australia’s favourite English exports The Wombats, hitting the coastal town for the very first time and for one night only on Wednesday July 25 at University of Wollongong’s Innovation Campus, today the British pop heroes deliver another daily dose of excitement as they announce a slew of extra guests they’re bringing along for the ride.
Taking on support duties and joining the previously announced English electronic maestro Elderbrook will be Aussie slack rockers SKEGGS, the hypnotising and searingly honest Stella Donnelly and the ‘gongs very own homegrown alt-rock band Pacific Avenue.

Kicking off 2018 with the follow-up track to their hotly sought-after debut EP Holiday Food, SKEGSS unleashed brand new single ‘Up In The Clouds,’ onto baited ears and it did not disappoint. The trio have charmed listeners with their warm garage-punk sound, sold out shows all across the country and capped off this year’s summer with the inclusion of ‘Got On My Skateboard’ at #39 on triple j’s Hottest 100. They will be hitting the stage this July off the back of a touring schedule that boasts a UK tour including The Great Escape and Dot Dot Festival, a massive Australian single tour and an upcoming set at Splendour in the Grass, as well as the promise of new material under their belt.
It’s been a massive year for WA’s Stella Donnelly since her 2017 debut EP Thrush Metal, featuring lead singles ‘Mechanical Bull’ and ‘Boys Will Be Boys’, catapulted her in to stardom. On home soil, Donnelly won the inaugural Levi’s Music Prize, as the ‘most outstanding talent’ at Brisbane’s Bigsound conference, a swathe of Western Australian Music Industry Awards, including Best EP, Best Folk Act, Best Single, Best Female Vocalist and Most Popular New Act and named triple j’s ‘Unearthed Artist of the Year’ award. Making her mark overseas, she performed at UK’s The Great Escape as part of their ‘First 50’, signed a global record deal with the highly esteemed US label Secretly Canadian, and went on to perform at SXSW along with headline US shows in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Seattle.
Birthed in early 2017, four-piece alt-rock band Pacific Avenue blend authentic rock and roll with today’s modern sound. Their debut single ‘In Your Arms’ reached #1on triple j Unearthed’s Overall Charts a week after release in early May. 2018 has already proven to be exciting with the release of their third single ‘Sally’ also steaming to #1 on triple j Unearthed’s Overall Charts within a week. With previous support duties for artists such as San Cisco, British India, Tyne-James Organ and The Belligerents up their sleeves they will be primed and ready to take on their hometown stage.
Don’t miss out on this Splendour in the Grass sideshow on steroids!
