The Beautiful Girls
World renowned for bringing bass heavy rhythms to the party, THE BEAUTIFUL GIRLS are an exciting inclusion to The Gum Ball program. Band leader Mat McHugh is excited to be returning with his full band, having performed solo at the festival in 2014. Following the release of their 2019 Greatest Hits vinyl double album compilation ‘Seaside Highlife’, you can expect to hear the very best of TBG live as they perform fan favourites Periscopes, I Thought About You, Morning Sun, Blackbird and more…

Ripple Effect Band
Ripple Effect Band are an all woman’s band coming from Maningrida in Arnhem Land, Northern Territory. Whilst following in the tradition of saltwater rock from the top end, they are forging new ground and a new sound as the first women from their community to play instruments and make their own band. They sing in five Aboriginal languages, Ndjébbana, Burarra, Na-kara, Kuninjku and Kune and they have a story to tell about their land, their languages and their culture.

Majun Bu
Sydney’s ska-funk outfit MAJUN BU are set to get the joint jumping with their energetic live show.  With only a couple of years on the live circuit and a debut album ‘The Bu’ under their belts, this five-piece has quickly gained a reputation as being one helluva party band.

The Barren Spinsters
With a nod to 70’s blues rock comes THE BARREN SPINSTERS.  This Canberran-based duo is fronted by Brendon Houlahan on vocals and guitar…while playing bass with his feet, and drummer Matt Tennant. Together they’ll perform tracks from their recent debut album Ten Steps To Critical Thinking in what is sure to be a high energy power-packed live performance.

The Stained Daisies
Mid north coast via Melbourne based rockers THE STAINED DAISIES are sure to become your new favourite band. With a brand new album just about to land, this is a band on the rise, with catchy hook-laden rock songs, no doubt offering up a solid, eclectic & energetic performance.

Darren Cross
DARREN CROSS is a welcomed addition to The Gum Ball line up.  The former frontman of indie electronic trio Gerling has released three solo albums and performed shows both here and in France (solo & in folknoir acoustic duo Jep & Dep).  Most recently, under the moniker of D.C Cross, Darren has received widespread critical acclaim for his 2019 released acoustic ambient folk album Ecstatic Racquet. Armed only with an acoustic guitar Cross will take a willing audience on an ethereal guitar journey – equal parts dark humour (some wish he never saw the Bill Hicks collection) and euphoric fingerpicking with the occasional folk song thrown in for good measure.

Van Walker
Legendary Victorian singer songwriter VAN WALKER returns to the festival on the eve of the release of ‘Ghosting’, his first solo album in ten years. Recently at Dashville as front man with his raucous rock project Heartbrokers, Walker is looking forward to sharing a collection of songs, for what could well be his Magnum opus. A true songwriting genious, with collaborators including Jeff Lang, Matt Walker & Shane Reilly.

Hip Hop Showcase
RIVAL EMPIRE PRESENTS: SPARTA featuring Newcastle’s Talakai (who recently toured with ChillinIt for Fomo Festival), Ty Mikado, Micks King (the man behind Newcastle’s Madhouse Hip Hop parties) and Bigredcap & Losty who have recently finished touring with Drapht, Seth Sentry, Dizzy Wright on the back of their number 1 charting iTunes album ‘Analog Heroes’.
