It’s been an exciting few months for The Kite String Tangle with a Queensland Music Awardwin, international festival performances at Primavera (Barcelona), The Great Escape (Brighton), Dot to Dot (Manchester, Bristol, Nottingham) and We Love Green(Paris), a sold out London headline show as well as headline shows in Berlin and Amsterdam. Then there was also the release of mini album The Kite String Tangle Presents:In A Desperate Moment which resulted in two sold out shows with the Queensland Symphony Orchestrain Brisbane.
Now today he unveils new single ‘Give It Time’ ft. Aalias alongside a heart-warming video. Known for co-producing hits such as Eminem and Rihanna’s ‘The Monster’ and DJ Snake ‘Middle’, on Aalias worked alongside The Kite String Tangle to produce a track that draws you in with a mesmerising harp intro, building to an infectious groove and Harley’s unmistakably smooth vocals.
Says The Kite String Tangle“It’s a light-hearted song about seeing the light at the end of the tunnel when things aren’t so great, and I really wanted the vibe of the track to translate that as much as possible.”
The accompanying video is a playfully sweet visual story of two people finding the yin to their yang. Shot in Sydney, the video features two Tai Chi devotees whose shared passion leads them to something more.

“When we started talking about a video clip for the tune, I knew I wanted something fun and I always like film clips with a rhythm or dance element; and so when I saw the pitch from the eventual director Imogen Grist, it was a clear winner from the very start. It was heavily reliant on the two main characters and Imogen managed to find the absolute most amazing couple to work with; Frank and Jan. I’m stoked with the sentiment of the clip and I think it’s heart-warming, a little cheeky and super fun” continues The Kite String Tangle.
April’s In a Desperate Moment mini album was performed in its entirety with the Queensland Symphony Orchestrafor Wave Festival and was created as an outlet for Harley’s other musical side. Although known for his electronic prowess, he has been simultaneously writing music at a piano or guitar and has been attracted to organic music with acoustic and classic instrumentation. The album was developed over countless studio hours, and also features weird and wonderful toys, tapes, and trinkets.
2017 saw the release of his debut self-titled album which reached #1 on the iTunes Electronic charts and made a Top 10 debut on the iTunes Album chart, two national headline tours, much-talked about sets at Splendour in the Grass and FOMO festivals amongst others, AUS/NZ support for US electronic duo ODESZA, a support at the Brisbane Festival for London Grammar, and a co-headline slot on Red Deer Festival. All this came alongside the announcement of his own record label Exist. Recordingswhich put out well received releases from Brisbane producer Golden Vessel and sibling duo Lastlings.
