From a sweaty live music stage in Glebe we last night revealed the 2018 Unisounds Competition Finalists. And in a first for the 29-year-old competition, judges were forced to add an additional finalist due to the tight final count. What was four, became FIVE, deserving entrants selected by our expert judging panel to join two publicly voted Wild Cards for the final event this September 19 th at the iconic Lansdowne Hotel Sydney. The announcement was presented by the 2017 winners Jones The Cat as a live stream from stage at the last of their month-long Sydney residency – catch the announcement here.
Jones The Cat know how impactful this prize can be as they are currently in the process of setting up their global release through Dine Alone Records following months of touring and
recording. Having already named Ashley Iona (University of Sydney) from the live category, and electronic artist Danny Donahue (La Trobe University) as the publicly voted Wild Cards, the five remaining finalists now round out the full line-up of competitors for finals and are drawn from right across the country.

With the life-changing prize of an international recording deal from Dine Alone Records and promotions package at stake, a gold class panel of industry experts have worked hard to select these promising artists who have everything it takes to be part of the next generation of Australian music.
On September 19th each of the seven finalists will be flown to Sydney to participate in an intensive mentoring experience with our industry panel throughout the afternoon, with doors opening to the public for the live show at 7pm. Jones The Cat will open the live event, with a
soon to be announced killer headline act set to close the show.
The finalists will battle it out for audience’s enjoyment and the judging panel’s consideration, with the 2018 Unisounds Winner announced at the end of the night.

The event is free admission to the public, and audience members will have every opportunity to become a winner as well.
