VAMPIRE WEEKEND have collaborated with Jonah Hill in the form of a brand new video for ‘Sunflower’. As previously reported, the video was directed by Hill; and filmed at locations on New York’s Upper West Side including Zabar’s and Barney Greengrass.
The ‘Sunflower’ clip stars Ezra Koenig and Steve Lacy (who features on the song); with surprise cameos including Jerry Seinfeld and Fab 5 Freddy. ‘Sunflower’ is half of the second pair of songs to be released in advance of VAMPIRE WEEKEND’s forthcoming ‘Father of the Bride’; which will be released on the 3rd May 2019.

The forthcoming record closes a six-year gap since 2013’s ‘Modern Vampires of the City’; a period during which the band’s Ezra Koenig was anything but idle. In addition to touring the world and winning a Grammy for ‘Modern Vampires of the City’, Koenig released his Netflix anime series ‘Neo Yokio’; continued to host his ‘Time Crisis’ show on Beats1; co-wrote and produced Beyonce’s ‘Hold Up’; all the while living the experiences and observations that would inform the next VAMPIRE WEEKEND album.
The band made their sixth visit to Australia in 2018; headlining Byron Bay’s annual ‘Splendour In The Grass’ Festival. The announcement of ‘Father of the Bride’ is sure to spark much anticipation locally; as VAMPIRE WEEKEND’s first two albums have both achieved gold certification in Australia.

The new release will be followed by the bands’ most ambitious tour to date; preceded by a headline appearance at the ‘Hangout’ Festival in Gulf Shores, Alabama; and beginning a run of arena and amphitheatre headline dates throughout North America. The tour will include the band’s biggest hometown show to date on the 6th June 2019 at Madison Square Garden; in which the band have opened up every seat in the building to allow for a full 360 show.
