Announce Launch Showcase Event

Newly debuted independent record label Roly Poly Records are officially open for business and to announce their new-coming to the local music scene they have announced their first official label show, a free launch gig at the acclaimed Retreat Hotel. Headlined by the label’s first signing, Astronaughty, and supported by locals and friends Dog’s Don’t Kiss on their own debut public show, and Tali Mahoney following her July Leaps and Bounds performance, the show is looking to be a fantastic night.

The event is on next Thursday night (August 29^th) at 8pm, free entry, in the main room at the Retreat Hotel, a homey mainstay for local and up-and-coming acts.

ASTRONAUGHTY

From recent beginnings, four-piece local Melbourne band Astronaughty have perfectly blended a mix of Parquet Courts and the more delicate side of Big Scary to create their own mellow version of indie guitar pop. Those who have been to one of Astronaughty’s live performances, including two headline shows since the start of 2019, have seen first-hand the dreamy landscapes and stories front-man Michael paints with artful lyrics and gentle guitar licks. The first months of Astronaughty’s career has seen the band focus on writing, recording and producing several high-quality tracks with the culmination of their hard work seen with the recent release of their first two singles Gravity and Camera Shy. With a number of shows coming up and a music video in the works for Gravity, Astronaughty have a busy few months ahead of them.

Roly Poly Records has been brought to life by founders and managers Jahmiele Hicks and Michael Baini, pulling together their separate knowledge and experiences to create what will, going forward, be an all-around, artists-first independent label. Keep your eyes peeled for some amazing local artists and events coming your way soon, and local independent and unsigned artists should also keep their eyes peeled as Roly Poly will soon be on the lookout for their next artists. Less than 2 weeks out and Roly Poly can’t wait to share what they and their artists have been working on. See you there!
