Pre Show

On arriving at Sydneys ‘Factory Theatre’ there was no questioning whether this show sold out. Fans of all ages were already forming a queue at the venue 30 minutes prior to doors that extended out of premise showing how thrilled they were to see their favourite artists live.

Lots of patrons showing real promise in become ninjas making light work of the stairs up to the band room.

Everyone was full of excitement & bubbly for the entire build up (giving lots of cheer to stage technicians when they would pop up on stage to make sure everything is good to go) before our first act came to stage.

Stevan

Stevan was the opening act and hit it off with a bang for the night getting everyone on their feet and full of energy for the night! Stevan’s engagement with the crowd was spectacular and his conversations with the crowds were detailed and full of discussion!

Playing a small excerpt of Bad Habit halfway through his set paying homage to Steve Lacy making distinctions between their names and guitar.

Stevan got all up in the crowd, even at one point getting into the crowd and sung to fans! Having a dance with them brought so much joy to the crowd.

Before Stevan ended his act the entire crowd applauded him and were boosted with energy after an amazing show from him!

Current Joys

Current Joys came onto stage the entire crowd lit up and gave a heavy empathetic applause and constant cheering.

Current Joys started their act with their very well know song “Televisions”. They had their whole crowd on their feet and up and moving.

During this song, frontman Nicholas Rattigan broke his guitar string and wanted to restring, so the rest of the Current Joys started a bass and drum jam session. Nicholas joking with fans that we are hearing a new song for the first ever time.

Fans were engaged with their performance the whole act. Nicholas Rattigan engaged with the crowd none stop the entire night. Nicholas and the band also spoke about their long flight to Sydney Australia and what they got up to over the last couple of days!

It was coming to the end of the night, the crowd was still full of excitement and anticipation.

Nicholas’ guitar was a paid actor at this stage as the SAME STRING snaps once again. But fans were in high spirits as we get another improv jam session between the rest of the band.

Current Joys started to play their song “Become The Warm Jets” and fans were so touched. Everyone swaying their hands around and singing. Nicholas Rattigan singing the very end of the song, getting into everyone’s hearts, would take long extended breaks between lines, really pulling the dynamics and emotion out of every word. That’s when the security guards two-way radio goes off echoing throughout this almost completely silent and compelled venue, everyone broke out laughing and giggling.

It was coming down to the last song of the night, after a 20 plus song setlist. Current Joys ended the night with their song “Ghost”. As everyone started heading out, even more bubblier than they were when they walked into the venue with the thought of them seeing Current Joys live!
